Why a braided hose is more than just a hose
Water makes up over 90 percent of espresso, and before it even reaches the boiler, it has to flow reliably and without leaks from the line to the machine. A braided hose is wrapped in a flexible metal mesh that withstands pressure fluctuations and mechanical strain – noticeably more robust than a simple plastic hose. After years of continuous use, though, the seals at the connections can still wear down.
The original braided hose from Rocket Espresso measures 1.6 metres with a 1/8-inch connection and fits Rocket models with a fixed water connection.
